Donald Ray Vince

Mr. Donald Ray Vince, 81, was called home from this life May 21, 2018, at the Lawrence County Nursing Center. He was born June 13, 1936, in Tylertown to Ollie and Exie Mae Vince.
Services were held Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Carmel Baptist Church in Monticello with graveside services following in Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Harvey officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Donald was an only child, but his cousins, Robert Earl and Jesse Ray, were considered brothers to him. He was a loving son, husband, father and pawpaw. He loved his wife, Peggy, of 22 years dearly and never stopped. He is the father to Glynn Vince and wife, Cindy, Lynn Boyles and husband, Donnie, Pam Huguley and husband, Harold, Toby Nations and wife, Jessica and Josh Nations, all of Monticello. Donald never met a stranger, loved to talk, travel, sing, ride his “Hog”, and, of course, video it all! He always smiled and talked about the mountains, where he preferred to be most of the time. Many will remember Donald as the “air condition man that never lets you down” and older generations as “Santa Claus” or the beginning and legend of the Atwood Music Festival. He also in his time wrote and had his book published and recorded records and CD’s. Everyone knew they had a friend in him who was honest, loving and hardworking.
He is and will always be missed by his many grandchildren: Brad Boyles and wife, Kayla, Christy Turner and husband, Daniel, Kyle Huguley and wife, Tara, Amanda Vince, Coby Allen and husband, Sterling, Sawyer Nations, Xan Nations, Caleb Nations, LeAnna Nations and Lyza Nations, and great-grandchildren, Darcy, Hunter, Jake, Kanen, Tucker, Maddox and Truett on the way. His family was big and he loved seeing and visiting with all of them. He may be gone, but the memories, we shall hold forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Kane Huguley.
