Vergie Lee Holloway

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Pen Oak M.B. Church in Silver Creek for Mrs. Vergie Lee Holloway, 86, who died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello. Rev. Robert Barnes, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Vergie Holloway was born to the late Jewel and Eddie Smith in New Hebron. She worked as a nanny and cook. She was a member of Pen Oak M.B. Church, where she was a member of Home Mission and served on the usher board until her health failed her. She was a member of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Oma Lee Walker, Mandy Arnold, Edna Mae Armstrong and Rose M. Banks, and three brothers, Eddie, Joe and Robert Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Percy Holloway, Sr.; sons, Rev. Oles (Georgia) Newsome of Monticello and Percy (Edna) Holloway, Jr. of Silver Creek; two sisters, Arcola Taylor of Monticello and Pankey (J.T.) Walker of New Hebron; nine grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
