John Doyle Rowley

John Doyle Rowley passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg surrounded by his family. Doyle was born June 15, 1938, to John Timothy Rowley and Josephine Foil Rowley in Marion County.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, J.C. Rowley (Wilda Lee), Ida Mae (Hollis) Copeland, Carrol Rowley (Eris), Hugh Rowley (Marvin), Ovie Rowley Morgan and his nephews, John Carrol Rowley, Roy Copelin, Timothy Copelin and Michael Rowley.
Mr. Rowley was married to his wife, Kathryn, for 51 years, and together they had one daughter, Teresa, and two grandchildren, Alden and Hollyn. The couple initially lived in the Hepzibah community, where Mrs. Rowley played organ for Hepzibah Baptist Church and Mr. Rowley served as Deacon. Mr. and Mrs. Rowley made Hattiesburg their home in 2002 and were members of Hepzibah Baptist Church. Mr. Rowley was a schoolteacher and administrator for 40 years in the public school system and retired in 2000 after working for Jackson Public Schools, Marion County Schools and Lawrence County School District.
Doyle is survived by his wife, Kathryn Speights Rowley; daughter, Teresa Rowley McDaniel of Hattiesburg and two grandchildren, Alden Kathryn McDaniel and Holly Faith McDaniel of Hattiesburg. Doyle is survived by one brother, Sedgie “Runt” Rowley (Jewel, deceased) of Oak Vale.
Doyle is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews, Dana Speights Walker, Dawn Speights (Kelly) Greenlee, Dannell Speights (Scott) Roberts, Stevie (Theresa) Rowley, Debra Lee, Larry (Tricia) Copelin, Shirley McKenzie, Toni McKenzie, Linda Neal, Anita Jo Carney, Pam (Robert)McRaney, Kim (Steve) Milling, Janet Myers and Lisa Cooley.
Funeral services were held at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia Friday, February 2, 2018. Interment was at Darbun Cemetery.
