Jimmie Lee Thompson

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at New Zion M.B. Church in Oakvale for Mr. Jimmie Lee (Jim) Thompson, 60, who died Friday, October 6, 2017 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Rev. Aaron Thompson officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jimmie Lee Thompson was born in Oakvale to the late Henry C. and Mary Thompson. He joined New Zion M.B. Church at an early age, where he was the guitarist and soloist for the choir. He was an honorary member of Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church in Monticello. He was a 1974 graduate of Monticello High School.
Mr. Thompson was a logger for 22 years and was also a carpenter and electrician. He was formerly married to Ann McClellan.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Suzette Thompson; brother, Willie Thomspon and son, Antonio McCoy.
He is survived by three sons, Marcus McCoy of Columbia, South Carolina, Lawarza Easterling of Hattiesburg and Tawrean Easterling of Texas; four brothers, Archie (Shirley) Thompson of Silver Creek, Dennis Thompson and Eric (Crystal) Thompson of Oakvale and Aaron (Vanessa) Thompson of Monticello; three sisters, Penny (Bishop) Terrell of Little Rock, Arkansas, Sherry Pittman of Oakvale and Jeanetta (Stanley) Burrell of New Orleans, Louisiana; seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
