Jewel “Jack” Ozell Smith

Jewell “Jack” Ozell Smith, 89, was called home from this life on September 24, 2017, at the VA Center in Collins. Jack was born November 19, 1927 in Lawrence County to Kirby and Irene Gibson Smith.
Services were held Wednesday, September 27, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sontag with graveside services following in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Ed King officiated the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Jack served his country in the United States Marines; he was the founder of Sontag Hunting Club and had a deep love for hunting and fishing. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was one of the founders of the Sontag Water Association; he also served as president of the Lawrence County Farm Bureau.
Surviving Mr. Smith are his children, Linda Lambert of Sontag, Rickey Smith of Middletown, Ohio and Wayne Smith (Sherry) of Sontag; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife of 56 years, Adell Honea Smith; brother, Floyd Smith and two sisters, Ernestine Minton and Francis Easterling.
