Dorothy Jean Wilson

Dorothy Jean Wilson was called home on July 19, 2017 at 6 a.m. at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg.
Dorothy was born on July 10, 1942, in Bassfield to Charlie and Vera Polk. Following the death of her parents, Fred and Ethel Bullock of Old Silver Creek raised her as their daughter.
Dorothy graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1962 and married Gene Sanders, Sr. on September 18, 1963. She spent the next sixteen years following her husband from base to base around the world. She finally moved back home to Lawrence County in late 1979 and lived there until the death of her husband, Gene, in 1991.
Dorothy married her soulmate, Talmadge Wilson, January 18, 1992 and was blessed with eighteen wonderful, love-filled years until his death on December 12, 2009.
Dorothy was a member of Carson Baptist Church and she loved her church family and her church. She knew that God had put her in the right place.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Gene Sanders Sr. and Talmadge Wilson Sr.; her brothers, Carl Polk, Bobbie Bullock and Randy Bullock; her sisters, Maggie Polk, Marilou McNeese and Yvonne McNeese and her son, Talmadge Wilson, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Darrell Sanders of Monticello, Willie Wilson of Carson and Gene Sanders Jr. of Columbia; two daughters, Tammy Ivy of Sumrall and Charlotte Jones of Santee; thirteen grandchildren and many great- and great-great grandchildren and her brother, Lavelle Polk of Salem, Oregon.
Dorothy J. (Polk) Wilson blessed us for seventy-five years and will be laid to rest beside her husband, Talmadge Wilson Sr. in the Carson Cemetery. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss.
Reverend Benji Sessems and Dr. Varion Stogner officiated. Pallbearers were Shelby Wilson, Daniel Pierce, William “Bill” Bullock, Lynn Holloway, Gary Weeks, Ricky Barrett and Mitch Raynes.
Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.
