Bertha Ann Buley
Bertha Ann Buley, age 77, of Gulfport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2017.
She was born on November 11, 1939, in New Hebron, MS. She grew up in Gulfport and graduated from Gulfport High School and she loved coming to visit with family in Old Hebron and New Hebron. She retired having 35 years with the Harrison County School District where she was a teacher assistant for special needs children and drove their school bus.
Bertha Ann’s hobbies were singing and strumming her guitar. She didn’t have to be asked twice to play her guitar. She and Doug Cirino enjoyed entertaining at Carroll’s July 4th picnics. In recent years she enjoyed drawing and sharing stories with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby Thomas, and G.T. Buley; and three sons, Bobby Dean, John, and Chuck Thomas.
She is survived by her daughter, Andra Lee White and son-in-law Raymond; daughter-in-law, Carol, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, all of Gulfport. The family gives special thanks to her caregiver, Jenette Cuevas.
It was Bertha Ann’s request to be laid to rest beside her mother here in the Old Hebron Cemetery.
Bertha Ann was a happy person and enjoyed people. She would be happy knowing that Doug Cirino was there to play the guitar in her memory, and that we all celebrated her life and went to Faye’s after her Memorial Service to visit and fellowship in her memory.
