Joe Ann Little Ashley

Joe Ann Little Ashley, 84, passed away April 4, 2017 at her home. Services were held Thursday, April 6, at Bethel Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery in Hazlehurst with Rev. Tyson Windom and Rev. Van Windom officiating.
She was a lifelong resident of Rockport and was born to Joe L. Little and Lola Barton Little, who died when she was only three years of age. Joe Ann graduated with a degree in music and teaching from Mississippi College in Clinton. She played and sang in church for the majority of her life. Music was a passion that she enjoyed and a big part of who she was. She also taught school for many years and piano lessons to children along the way. She was married to Jordan M. Ashley for over 50 years until his death.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Ashley of Hazlehurst and Tim Ashley of Rockport; daughter, Lana Ashley of Rockport; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a relative to the Littles of Lawrence County.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church in Hazlehurst.
