Wesley Henry Davis
Wesley Henry Davis, 83, passed away October 7, 2016 at his Yulee, Florida residence.
Mr. Davis was born February 24, 1933 in Jacksonville, Florida and moved to Yulee five years ago from Cape Coral, Florida. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in St. Mary’s, Georgia and, along with his wife, Minnie Davis, planted a church in 1975 in Monticello that is still thriving today. He loved to camp and travel and dearly loved being with his family.
Mr. Davis retired from St. Regis Paper Company in 1983 after 30 years of employment and retired again from Georgia Pacific after being employed there for 12 years. He also retired from the Lee County Board of County Commissioners in 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Davis and by a grandson, Eli Robbins.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Minnie B. Davis of Yulee, Florida; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Wesley and Lynn Davis of Zion, Illinois and Stephen and Vicky Simmons of Smithville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Condy and Andy Harthcock of Merrimack, New Hampshire and Johanna and Todd Robbins of Yulee, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, George William and Nancy Davis of Callahan, Florida; a sister, Grace Gorman of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren, Wesley Davis, Erin Schoenman, Tony Simmons, Drew Harthcock, Precia Harthcock, Torin Harthcock, Evan Robbins and Ella Robbins; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Sophia and Lucas Davis and Audrey Schoenman.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 13, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Pastor Randall Dockery officiating. Interment followed in Green Pine Cemetery.
