John Warren “Jack” Rhymes

John Warren “Jack” Rhymes went home to the Lord on November 17th, 2013. Born April 12, 1923, to CD and Shellie Stewart Rhymes, he was the seventh of their eight children. He was raised in Brookhaven and Monticello where he attended school. A graduate of Mississippi State University, he served his nation proudly in the US Navy on the submarine USS Baya during World War II. He married the love of his life, Betty Winn Rhymes, of Laurel, in September of 1955. From 1956 to 2009 he operated Rhymes Electronics in Monticello.

A celebration of his life will be held at Monticello Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m Saturday, November 23, with visitation from 9:00 to 12:00 that morning.
