    May 1 is the ownership deadline for 4-H horse shows. Now is the time to make sure that your horse’s paperwork is in full order. Let the Lawrence County Extension Service office know if you wish to participate in the SW District 4-H Horse show, which will be held June 5-10. Participation in the District 4-H Horse show will possibly qualify you for the State 4-H Horse Show, which will be held the week of June 19-24. For more information, please call 601-587-2271.

    8 Divde Road, Monticello

    Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church, located at 8 Divide Road, 11 miles south of Monticello off Highway 27, is actively making plans for their annual Springfest, to be held Saturday, May 6, beginning at 8 a.m. There will be a day filled with fun and activities, including vendor booths, a food court, children’s activities, and much more. A gospel concert featuring Calm Assurance of Columbia will begin at 12:30 p.m. All proceeds from the day will benefit the church’s Sign Fund. Vendors are needed to help fill the flea market area. For booth information, contact Amanda Allen at 601-810-6002. In addition to the day’s events, a 5K Run/Walk will be held to benefit the Summer Mission Trip to Belize. The pre-registration deadline for the 5K is April 22. To register for the 5K or for more information, contact Brittany Powell at 601-757-9485.     May 7 is the Annual Homecoming Service at Tilton UMC beginning at 10:30 a.m. Traditional Homecoming singing will be included in the service. Dinner on the ground will be observed as usual. Cemetery fund donation will be accepted that day, or mail to: Tilton Cemetery, Attn: Juda Brister, 663 Hulon Brister Road, Jayess, MS 39641. Come and stay as long as you want and enjoy this time with friends and family.
